New! Social Determinants of Health and the Midwife
The
topic of healthcare disparities and social determinants of health (SDOH) has
exploded in the news and within the healthcare industry over the past couple of years. This is especially true when discussing the outrageous maternal
mortality rates in the US, especially when comparing outcomes of
African-American women to those of white women (and their babies.) It is a topic that has deserved more
attention for quite a while. The ATMMTP added a full day on the SDOH at our module 5 workshop several years ago. However, we saw the need to expand this into a full course. All students who have not completed module 5 will automatically be enrolled in the new course.
Students who have finished module 5 are eligible to take the new course at no extra charge, either as a review or for credit. If you are interested in this course please contact the Course Coordinator.
